Raised planting beds 1

Raised planting beds 1

The project was a raised planting bed in the back garden. Sounds simple enough but no square or rectangular box in this location! An L shape design with additional angles, complicated by the fact that the garden slopes by around 400mm over the length of the proposed bed. To ensure the top of the bed was level, some groundwork was needed to bury the ends of the bottom row of beams at the lowest end. From here I built up and levelled the further beams as I went. In terms of tools and equipment I initially started with just a circular saw to cut the beams but I struggled to get the accuracy I needed because I had to cut from both sides of the beams (cut depth of 80mm, beam thickness of 100mm) so I invested in a big Metabo sliding mitre saw.
Very happy with the end result. There’s a video with a basic description on my YouTube channel but if you have any questions on methods or tools and materials used, let me know.
